Summary

Loved the wind spinner designs this was created from (see source links)

. However I wanted to be able to put this on top of a flag pole and neither of the originals would work for that.

So I converted the STL files into something I could manipulate and added in a section at the bottom and top to house a bearing. I originally tried the design with a 608 as this is the easiest and most commonly available, but the shaft size was too thin to hold up to the stresses. I ended up going with an R8-ZZ (link below) and modified some nuts and bolts from "NUT JOB" (see source link).

Downloading his OpenSCAD file allowed me to modify to my hearts desire. The Top of the rod I left threaded as I will want to add "toppers" to the rod. Due to how it is assembled, there is no worry about it falling off the rod. Installing the rod does take some patience as it is a tight fit. I will be looking fiddling with the rod design for easier installation.

For the Wind Jig, the mesh has two sections at the top the need supporting. Due to this it requires support both at the bottom and top. The new Cura 5.4 update fixed their tree supports which works great for this.

For the Middle Rod, These parts were printed at 100% infill so that they would stand up to any stresses put on it by the wind.
