Summary

The Rest Hand Splint (RH1) of the PTA ECORTHOTICS Orthopedic Splint series indicated for ailments and injuries of the nervous system and neurons that have as pathological symptomatology the flaccid paralysis. It is also recommended for tendonitis
of the musculotendinous elements of the hand that need rest and zero
muscle tension. It stands out for its aesthetics and innovative design. Before you print please measure your body member as the pictures above and scale the model of the splint accordingly.

After the 3D Printing process and for final result please thermoform it !

For more instructions see at the "post printing" section.

Thermoforming Instructions

The thermoforming of a PTA's 3D Printed Splint using a heating element is a delicate process that requires attention and relevant experience. Below are some general guidelines you can follow:

Materials and Tools:

3D printed PTA Splint -Ecorthotics
Heating element (such as a heater or hair dryer)
Protective gloves

Instructions:

Preparation:

Check the quality of the 3D printed splint. Ensure that it is well-printed without fractures or weaknesses.
Clean the splint from material residues.

Setting up the heating element:

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for preheating time and temperature.
Ensure not to overheat the splint, as this can cause deformation or unwanted warping of the model.

Heating:

Wear protective gloves and maintain safe distances from the core of the heating element.
Leave the splint on a flat fireproof surface and with one hand use the heating element sweeping from a distance of about three centimeters on the splint.
Monitor the splint throughout the heating process, and as you notice it softening, begin the shaping process. The heating duration varies depending on the size, thickness, and material of the brace (PLA, PLA CARBON, PET).

Shaping:

After reaching the appropriate temperature, start shaping the splint using your gloved hands to fit the desired form. The shape you give should accommodate the anatomy of your limb or the patient's limb.
Work swiftly, as the brace can cool rapidly and become inflexible.
Cooling and stabilization:

Once you've shaped the splint, let it cool on a flat surface to stabilize in its new form.
Apply it to the body part that needs immobilization.

Checking and adjustment:

Inspect the splint to ensure it has acquired the desired shape.
If necessary, you can repeat the heating, shaping, and adjustment process.

Remember that each material and model may require different heating temperatures and times, so it's crucial to experiment and adapt the process based on observed results. Additionally, it's recommended to practice on test pieces before applying thermoforming to the final splint.
