Summary
This is a simple fruit fly trap. Put a bit of bait in a pop/soda/wine/etc bottle 9red wine vinegar works really well), and then simply plane the trap in the bottle, pointing down (see photo).
The brim is wide enough that it should work with most small neck bottles.
