Summary

Wow this has been a long project!

In September I decided I was going to make a small pipe organ for my two nieces for Christmass. By chance our familly reunion was on the 30th of December, and I finally made it in time.

For this project, you will need to buy the following parts:
-Bamboo skewers
-M3 X 4mm button head cap screw (16)
-M3 X 18mm sochet head cap screws (7)
-M3 X 40mm socket head cap screws (5)
-0.8 X 11 X 21 mm spring (8)
-1/8 X 8 1/4 in brass rod (1)
-GDSTIME Blower 9733 with cylindrical nozzle and power control(1)

The pipes were printed upside down with a raft. The longer pipes would not stick well enough to the bed without the raft. But for smaller ones a brim was enough. I even joined two pipes together in cad with small tabs so they could support each other during printing operations (not included in the files).

I wanted my nieces to be able to read music with the Chroma-Notes code system so I bought 8 different colors of filaments. Some are PLA and other PETG. The file colors.doc contains the filaments I used. Of course you could print everything in the same color and material though I am not sure if the valve would flex enough if made with PLA. I used PETG for the valve for its longer elongation at break.

Here are the possible improvements that could be made:
-The recesses for the spring are too shallow
-The distance from the lower wind chest to the valve is too far so the spring are merely
compressed and air was leaking. I had to stretch the springs and the action of the
keys became too hard.

Instructions:
-The tapped holes are undersized so you will need to drill and tap them.
-The holes for the bamboo skewer pushing rod are undersized so I slowy drilled them
bigger until the skewers fit properly.
-The pipe are longer than necessary and need to be adjusted with a tuner so the notes
are the right frequencies. These are closed pipe so you will need to glue the plugs at
the end of each pipe. Make sure tu use the same air pressure when tuning pipes.

Technical information:
-Air pressure: 1.35 cm H2O
-Ising number = 2.3
-wind sheet thickness modified to 0.6 to 0.7mm (when compared with orgue-bernard
formulas)
-I used pipe plugs at 45° for ease of printing. This is not common in pipe organs but
worked for me.
