Summary

Bird spike ring for the Davis Instruments Vue ISS.
This replaces the stock debris screen for the rain collector and uses it as part of the ring's anchoring mechanism. No adhesives required!

Supplies Needed:

Print using a UV resistant filament. ASA is the best for this purpose as this is also the same material that the ISS itself is made out of. PETG will also work. Do not use PLA.

    Print with the flat face on the printing surface. Supports are required for the center arms/spike section. Lower your overhang detection angle and print with walls inside to outside first for overhang quality. The debris screen does not need support so place a support blocker there. Use at least 3 walls.

Post-Printing

Assembly

The holes for the bird spikes are designed to securely hold them in place without adhesive much like the Davis Aerocone does. Due to variances in 3D printers, it is possible that the diameter of these holes might be too tight to fit the spikes and the holes may require enlargement with a small drill bit until they fit properly. If the holes are too loose, then adhesive may be required.

When inserting the ring onto the ISS, the small circle of the ring will insert snugly into the center circle present in the middle of the ISS. The ring will then snap into the drainage hole of the rain collector.

Exercise caution when inserting the ring into the ISS. If excessive force is used when inserting the ring, the "fingers" for the debris screen may break, reducing the effectiveness of the ring's anchoring system to the ISS.
