Skreeeeech!!! was the sound of metal on metal every time I opened the pen drawer on the old spacious Teacher's desk, I have for one of my Enclosed 3D printers. After removing the drawer. I discovered that the nylon rollers/bearings were gone on both sides of the center pen drawer.
So, Removed one two of the badly opening side drawers to see that those bearings were badly worn with flat surfaces on the once round riding surface (old bearings are pictured along with a retainer. The retainer carries the bearing on a metal post on the drawer. The bearing rides/wears on the retainer not the metal post.)
This was my first "CAD" design, well... EVER. so Tinkercad to the rescue.
I must admit I was pretty proud of myself. I not only saved a great project desk. but save my sanity by getting all the drawers rolling smoothly. Best of all no more nails on chalkboard SKREEEEch!
I used ABS because of my printers limitations and it what I had on hand. I believe Nylon to be the best or Delrin. But, ABS is what I had and I am a cheap bastard.

How I Designed This
Tinkercad and direct measurements from one of the best old bearings and retainers I had left. Period.
