Summary

Many professionals recommend you drill a small hole in your sump pump drain above the pump but still in the sump pit in order to let air in after the pump shuts off to avoid some kind of hydro lock issue. I don't know if that is wisdom or nonsense, but it doesn't matter, as it is relatively harmless to do it, and the house I bought already had it done.

The issue is that if the hole wasn't drilled from an angle pointing down (or maybe even if it was), when the pump runs, it sprays a very strong stream of water horizontally in the sump. This makes it SUPER annoying to work in there (clear a clog or free a float), and it can spray up at the sump lid, and it can cause slime to grow as well.

This is simply a diverter, so the spray goes straight back down the pipe. Attach it to the PCV drain line with a cable tie so the vent hole in the pipe sits within the sphere, and the larger opening in the sphere is at the bottom. I printed in PLU, you can probably print in a rigid material as well if you cut the rest of the way around where the slot is after printing to make it two pieces so you can install it.

I have a direct drive hot end sprite on my ender, and it printed perfectly with no support or raft.

I used PLA, but you could use a rigid material as well if you cut the slot the rest of the way though after printing.
