Summary

The foam armrest on my SecretLab Titan chair started to crack and superglue wasn't cutting it, so I took a stab at building a custom replacement in Fusion360. I'm really happy with how it turned out, and since the cushion is attached magnetically, it's easy to swap out when/if they wear out in the future. It's fun to play with too :D

Note - The uploaded STLs are for the right armrest. You should be able to mirror in the slicer for the left side.

  • Notes:
    • Base - The base was printed in black PLA at 0.2mm and no supports. I printed this upside-down (magnets facing the bed). The tolerances are pretty tight, and it might be better to use a filament with a bit more flex, like PETG.
    • Cushion - The cushion top was printed in orange TPU, with a layer height of 0.3mm. I printed this upside-down so that I could get the added texture from the print bed, but it might be easier to print with the magnets facing down if you don't care about that.

Post-Printing

  • Magnets - Secure 16x 10mm x 1.75mm magnets (8 on top, 8 on bottom) with super glue, ensuring correct polarity for proper attachment.
  • Fitting - The tolerances on the base are very tight, and I used C-clamps to attach it over the original tabs. I left out the screw hole present in the original design, and it's not going to fall off anytime soon.

How I Designed This

Disassembled the chair arm and used a flatbed scanner to capture the shape of the base. Took measurements with calipers and used those to scale the image in Fusion 360. This image served as the foundation for modeling the custom armrest.
