Summary

Overview

Introducing the Pain Bucket, an innovative hydroponic set designed for the cultivation of large plants, including but not limited to extremely hot peppers like Trinidad Scorpion, small citrus trees such as lemons and oranges. This setup is a creative variation of the Dutch bucket system, optimized for those who wish to integrate large, decorative flowerpots into a fully autonomous hydroponic solution.

Main Advantages

  1. Decorative Integration: Transforms large decorative flowerpots into autonomous hydroponic pots, blending aesthetics with functionality.
  2. High Capacity: Holds over 35 liters of nutrient solution in a compact design, maximizing space efficiency.
  3. Optimal Oxygenation: Ensures excellent oxygenation with a tested oxygen level of about 8 mg/l, which is ideal for healthy root breathing.
  4. Electricity-Free Operation: Capable of operating without electricity for a period, maintaining a 30% nutrient solution level for emergency sustenance. Manual watering is also an option.
  5. Quiet Operation: Designed for quietness, making it suitable for indoor environments, including bedrooms.

Assembly Instructions

What You'll Need:

  • Neutral clay pebbles (e.g., Plagron Europebbles) for the inner pot
  • 30-35 liters of nutrient solution
  • Electricity for the pump
  • Additional light source (if necessary)

Non-Printed Parts:

  1. Opaque silicon tube (5 mm inner diameter) for connecting the pump to the solution diffusor.
  2. Simple water pump capable of lifting water to a height of 1-1.2 meters.
  3. Any tube (15 mm diameter) for noise-reducing water flow from the inner to the lower pot.
  4. A suitable pot with a large lower tank (30-40 liters) and an inner tank (6-10 liters).

Assembly Steps:

  1. Drill 32 mm holes at the bottom of the inner pot for the extendable emergency tube, preventing overflow due to root blockages. Consider adding a filter to catch debris.
  2. Drill a 32 mm hole on the side wall of the inner pot for the corner tube, ensuring its bottom is about 10 mm above the inner pot's base. Combine the tube connector with a 90-degree nut to form a solid piece, then attach the corner tube.
  3. Connect one end of your 5 mm opaque tube to the pump, and the other end to the solution diffusor.

Your Pain Bucket hydroponic set is now assembled and ready for planting. Just fill the inner pot with clay pebbles, add your nutrient solution to the lower tank, and ensure your pump and optional light source are powered.
