Summary

I wanted a simple riser for my ham radios so that when used at my desk, the controls and display are oriented at a better viewing angle than the built in wire stand provides.

A simpler solve was placing a hardcover book under the wire stand, but I also wanted a small tray for electronics odds and ends, coins, drill bits, and whatever other clutter finds its way to my desk... so I made this!

It's similar to Nifty Accessories' Universal Wire Bale Stand, which sells for a silly $24 on DX Engineering and still doesn't offer a storage tray (I love their spiral bound field manuals but c'mon guys - this is ~$1.50 of plastic!)

There are three different height cradles for the wire stand on your ham radio to rest in. Use your slicer's scale setting (on only the appropriate axis for width!) to increase or decrease the width of your printed stand. Similarly you can vertically scale the tray.

I'm using this with my Yaesu FT-710 (pictured) and FT-891 HF radios, but it should work well with any radio, scanner, or other electronic component with a wire stand.

No supports needed, print flat on the bottom of the tray. 10-20% infill is all you should need for most radios, maybe 50% infill if your radio is heavier than most. I tested mine with 20% gyroid infill using a 20kg weight plate and it was fine without deforming.

Place some rubber feet underneath the tray if you find it's sliding around your desk, or some felt pads if you have a nicer material desk you don't want to scratch.

Hope this helps some folks use their radios more comfortably or declutter their desks a bit! 73,

    Flsun V400

  • Rafts:
    No
  • Supports:
    No
  • Resolution:
    0.2mm
  • Infill:
    Any

  • Notes:

Any infill pattern is fine. I used gyroid because it's faster with my delta-style printer in this instance.

The part is not experiencing tremendous force or heat so minimal infill (10-20%) is more than fine.
