Summary

This university project involves the design and creation of a 3D puzzle of the European map, aimed at children and people with visual impairments. The puzzle consists of a base and individual country pieces, each with 3D representations of their geographical features and altitudes. The design includes Braille labels for accessibility.

How I Designed This

Introduction

I chose to design a pedagogical game for children, a 3D puzzle of the European map, which can be used by people with visual impairments. The puzzle aims to stimulate cognitive development, spatial perception, and geographical knowledge.

3D Modeling

I used Freepik's image library to obtain a vector of the European map, which I modified and exported to 3DStudio Max. I then added a height map to create a 3D representation of the map's altitudes. Each country was modified with various tools to add depth and detail, and labels were added in Spanish and Braille.

3D Printing

I used an Anycubic Photon Mono X 3D printer and its software to prepare the models for printing. I optimized the models to print multiple countries at once, saving time and resources. The base of the puzzle was printed separately.

Materials

I chose to use resin printing for its high resolution and precision, which is ideal for capturing the fine details of the map's reliefs. The resin also offers greater resistance than other materials commonly used in FDM printing."
