Summary

This adapter converts the tactical rail for compatibility with any Nerf rail attachment. The adapter also serves as a slider to close the battery cover allowing for fast battery swaps without the need for a screwdriver.

Installation:

To install the rail, remove the battery hatch and slide the adapter over either the rail on the cover or the rail on the blaster.

Once installed, the rail can close the battery cover by sliding it over both rails, allowing for easy battery swaps without using a screwdriver.

If the rail does not slide on easily, check for printing artefacts. Over-extrusion will widen the first few layers, resulting in a tight fit. I recommend using a Dremel or sandpaper to remove the excess material.

Why I made this:

Even though optics or attachments serve no real purpose in a laser tag game, there is a tactical rail on top of the Spitfire RK-45 blaster. Since the rail does not conform to the Nerf size standard, it was useless for me nonetheless.

Since the rail cannot mount any Nerf rail attachment, an adapter seemed to be an easy solution. I remixed a Nerf-compatible rail to add a piece of Nerf rail on top.

To open the battery cover you have to use a screwdriver, which was quite frustrating when playing outside. The batteries are springloaded because of the way they are inserted, making it impossible to leave the screw loose. Now, besides serving as an adapter, this rail adapter can slide over the battery cover, resolving the need for a screwdriver!

I already printed some other parts, likethis Nerf stock adapterand some self-made parts, which I might publish later. (The barrel and button on the side) The barrel was inspired bythis project, extending the range. The button is moved to the side since the stock adapter took it's place. The switch can be operated with one hand and is used to toggle fire modes inthe SimpleCoil appand voice chat in the recoil app.
