Summary
here's my semi-accurate recreation of the Apollo neck ring, I made this in TinkerCAD, based on numerous technical manuals, this is my easy-to-print version.
you will probably have to resize this for yourself, the scaling is not accurate as-is.
the helmet ring interlocks with the base with a series of four teeth.
the top and bottom rings are locked together with pegs/screws, these are independent to the interlock mechanism.
I'm not sure how to connect the two parts, as I've yet to print this model, it may require some modification.
The neck ring is 26.5cm in diameter, may need adjustment.
there is no room for springs or snap mechanisms, I made this for a non-apollo costume, so I was planning on closing it with a toggle latch.
