Summary

This is a replacement case for a Honda key fob. It uses a matchbox style design (sliding box), with the outer case acting as a shell over the insert containing the key and fob components.

It works for a 2010 Honda Ridgeline. However, other Honda vehicles share the same fob design and the following may have compatible fobs (as per vendors on Amazon):

There are 3 components: (1) case (the outer shell), (2) insert (containing the key fob guts and chip), and (3) the key tee.

The case has three options: (1) with Honda logo and grips, (2) with grips only, (3) plain with no logo or grips.

No screws are required.

Step 1. Insert the key fob remote component into the insert, aligning the buttons with corresponding button cut-outs.
Step 2. Insert the key blade into the tee slot.
Step 3. Insert the key tee above the key, into the same slot.
Step 4. Carefully slide the case over the prepared insert.

Note: You will need to carefully press the buttons down (especially the panic button) to get the case to slide into place. The tight fit requires no screws—but be careful you don't break the case.

For printing the case, upright with no supports, I slowed print speed to 40mm/s.

I printed my PLA filaments at 210 to 215C, with the bed at 60C.

I've tested with multiple PLA filaments: AnyCubic (grey), Amazon Basics Silk (blue), ERYONE Matte (white), Overture (Midnight Black). Bed levelling and tensioning the belts was essential to a quality print.

I kept the my fob insert blue (as shown in the photos) as I liked that it made it easy to distinguish for other keys. However, printing in black for case, tee, and insert will be the preference for many, and is less likely to make it obvious that the fob has 3D printed components.
