Summary

This is my version of longboard wheel.

It is divided into multiple parts and connected via M3x25mm screws as you can see. The core is printed in Blaster PLA which is kind of enforced PLA (stronger than ABS). Outer shell is printed in TPU. Depending on performance and wear resistance I might change dimensions, number of screws or screw placement in a future.

This is prototype, use with caution and at your own risk!

I will use these wheels for casual city cruising, no crazy speeds, sliding etc. That's why I think it will work. The main reason I started working on these was the price of new set (30€ compared to 10€ printed) and customizability. I plan to add outer and inner "center casing" so to say, where I should be able to print own logo and it will also keep bearings from dust.

Notes:
Use as much perimeter as possible for outer shell so there is no space. This way the shell will not deform when riding. You might also use 100% infill but with TPU raising perimeters is faster because of continuous circular motion instead of zigzag.

Printing Shell

Do not use circular inner infill pattern , since this pattern does not provide such strong integrity. Regarding shell, I printed the "floor" with 4 perimeters and rest rectilinear infill pattern 100%. Then I set another process to print walls with 10 perimeters so the wall would be full (see picture).

Printing Core

Use some strong and resistant material such as ASA, ABS, Nylon or anything strong. PET-G might be also sufficient. Use lots of perimeters like 6-7 and high infill percentage like 50-70%.

When tightening screws, do not use lots of power - it will compress the shell in the middle which will create gap between shells. You will find yourself.
