The demise of the CD RW unit in laptops has given rise for the need to salvage slimline units from replaced laptops to access legacy media. A case protects them and makes them easy to store, carry, or use on a desk.
Here are two functional cases designed for DL Storage and Toshiba units.

Print in any medium you want as there is no stress on the case.
The lid is the same for each case and is affixed to the with tape.
CD RW unit is held in the box by drilling a hole opposite a side (usually at the left rear or back) aving a threaded case hole and inserting a securing screw.
A the electrical attachment is made with a slim line SATA 6 + 7 to USB adapter.

This case will not endure a lot of stress so just about any printing filament will work.

Typical edge dressing will apply.
The top leaves room for printing error and potential warpage and when fitted there is about 2-4 mm space above the CD unit.
The top is designed to be held on with a strip of packing tape. Not fancy, but easy to disassemble.
Most slimline CD units have tapped chassis holes that will allow securing the unit inside the case. The location is varied so you will have to locate yours should you want to drill to use a screw for securing the unit. The case walls are 2 mm thick. A screw of 4 mm in length should be adequate.
