Summary
I remade the labyrinth box by sneakypoo from scratch so I can customize the pattern and tweak the fitting of the parts. I also added small bumps at the starting positiion so it locks in place.
New versions can be created by generating a maze texture (e.g. https://www.mazegenerator.net) and modifying the image with an image editor (blur the lines and add an exit line, and also bumps for the starting position, see image file for reference). The image file can then be used in blender as a displacement map.
