Summary

The stitch dropper tool is designed for effortlessly releasing stitches from either bed on the knitting machine. It is commonly used in knitting drop-stitch lace projects. Additionally, I designed the tool for smooth movement in both left-to-right and vice versa directions, ensuring comfortable usability.

I initially designed a hole in the middle of the tool with the intention of screwing the handle to the plate. However, I later decided to use the holes on the parts only as a reference. Ultimately, I assembled both parts using two-component glue for a secure bond.

How I Designed This

This is my first 'big' project created using FreeCAD, and I was pleased to achieve success on my first attempt. After taking the needed measurements a long time ago, I found that this tool provided the perfect opportunity to put my skills to the test. I created a design consisting of a padded rectangle with a slot through the middle and a simple ball which reminds me of the one on the U70 lock (my favorite transferring tool). While relatively simple in appearance, I am proud of the functionality and effectiveness of the tool.
