Summary

This is a very heavy remix of florianosR4572’s Cadillac Gage Commando M706 which isn’t in fact a model of a Cadillac Gage Commando but one of a close sibling, the Portuguese Bravia Chaimite V-200.

The Chaimite was produced from stolen Cadillac Gage plans so it’s a decent starting point despite some minor differences. The hull, hatches and wheels have been significantly altered and/or reworked.

This model also uses parts from other makers: the exhaust shroud comes from Captain_Ahab_62’s own M706, the turret and guns from the T50 turret for M113 by kscalemodels and the E2’s superstructure is based on the one made by 1zapsplat123’s V100 Armoured Car.

All of the stl files have been test-printed print at 1/100 without issue on my printer and slicer combo (Creality Halot One & Lychee Slicer). Everything will of course print at larger scales.

It has also been printed down to 1/144 scale with no loss of detail although the machines guns are best replaced with sturdier ones as 1/100 is probably the lower limit for the ones provided with the turrets. Non-brittle resins are best for printing the turrets but a file is provided to print spare guns. The photos show prints at 1/100 and 1/144.

Turrets are provided with a pair of .30 calibre MGs, one .30 and one .50 calibre MG and without guns in both open and closed configuration. Note that the turret’s rotation axis is forward of the turret’s centre, this is not a mistake.

While the turret parts have been merged, the vehicle's components have not so you can separate the and rework/rearrange them if needed.

The open-topped XM706E2 has been given a relatively deep crew compartment but the square block provided can easily be combined with the vehicle and expanded along the vertical axis to adjust the depth of the printed armoured car. The Stowage Project by TigerAce1945 is a great source of armament for this vehicle.

Although the XM706E1 and XM706E2 designations were not used before the vehicle was adopted by the US Army and USAF respectively, it is used here as convenient shorthand to differentiate between turreted and non-turreted Commandos.

Early and Late designations are used to identify the variants with two or one viewing ports forward of the side doors and A, B and C are used for driver/commander and engine hatches configurations. A is for flat hatches all around (early models, i.e. ARVN V100s), B is for flat driver and commander hatches and a covered engine hatch and C is for domed driver and commander hatches and a covered engine hatch.
