Summary

Toyota C-HR Smartphone holder

This is a "quick and dirty" one day build for making a smartphone holder suitable for the Toyota C-HR (2018) car.

The issue with this car, is that there are no good interior surfaces around the driver for attaching a smartphone holder due to how everything is curved or recessed, this combined with todays smartphones being as big as they are, the only good place to put the smartphone is where the central dashboard display is located.

I needed to come up with a solution for an upcoming road trip, hence the one day build approach to simply get it done as fast as possible. All source files are available on github and here, feel free to improve on the design to better fit your needs or simply add some polish to make it nicer.

In addition to printing the smartphone holder, you will need to get some stool floor protectors or similar to complete the build.

NOTE: You will need to customize this model before printing, either using the customizer or OpenSCAD. See the link with full instructions on how to measure your phone and what parameters to adjust. The included STL is sized for a OnePlus 11 5G with official sandstone case.

Printed using CHEP Filament Friday CURA V.3.4 Extra Fast 0.28 profile, with temperature modifications for the filament.

Important here is that the holder is designed to be printed on the side, with supports, as depicted in the photos.

Post-Printing

Final Assembly

Remove the supports and then affix the floor protectors to the back of the smartphone holder, try to get the floor protectors on the "hook" side of the holder close to the bend of the "hook", this provides a more snug fit when the holder hangs over the car display.
