Summary
This is a print-in-place ball bearing that I designed for educational purposes.
The applicability of this design is somewhat limited due to the linearization of circular patterns when printing as well as the material properties of PLA.
An application where I see this working well is if you have a lightweight pulley system and need to reduce friction on an axle. (A steel ball bearing would be more practical but it's not as fun!)
It works great as a fidget toy as you can easily stick a finger in the center ring and spin it.
This is a great way to show the capabilities of printing in place and learn about proper tolerances for this material.
(Print with Normal Supports at 0.16mm Resolution, you may need to press on the balls to free them from the inner ring walls.)
