What if territory was captured? Area Denial for Planets or Asteroids would be essential to sustain an advance. So the Patrol as historically being a costal defense platform makes sense. This is where the Patrol Boat becomes the keepers of such resource centers. In this case, the prerequisite would be upper atmosphere support, landing and fighting off Capitol Ships in the event of surprise attacks to pincer in a broadening further out advance.

Any advance, being Naval or Ground based would need supplies from the occupied region to sustain the main advance. And this is why you’ll see all of that incorporated into this Remix of the Monsoon Gunboat. It’s another tactical gap to fill. The same guns on the Cruisers are found here, missiles, defense grid close quarters turrets and pulse cannons up front. Wings to suspend upper atmosphere navigation. Why? Because of if it were me on one of these, I’d want to hide in the clouds as a beacon in Hyperspace could transmit news of an approaching force. I’d start with a close quarter counter offensive from inside the outer atmosphere and disable the weapon systems of the approaching forces, and have another attachment pincer the enemy ships engines, allowing the approaching force to simply get caught in the gravity well after losing control and let the planet handle the rest and then call IPX.

Not the nicest, but hey, who plays by the rules that don’t exist yet wins every time. So in a Universe dominated by capital ships, these small ships really are super important. It’s extensive modding, but hey take a nice look around. I’d say the Cruiser guns are the best indicator of scale and size for printing if Placed with a Cruiser or many other remix’s I’ve done.
